Oslo:Guest lecture by Dr. Peter J.K. KuppenDept. of Surgery, Leiden University Medical Center, The Netherlands Title: “Tumor immunology and immunotherapy of human colorectal cancer'” Date:Monday, May 5th, 13:00 – 14:00 Abstract:(pdf flyer) Colorectal cancer is the fourth cause of death due to cancer worldwide and ~45% of all treated colorectal cancer patients die of advanced disease within 5 years. So far, efforts to improve survival have met only limited success. We are working on development of immunotherapy to treat colorectal cancer. For this goal, we perform clinical vaccination studies and laboratory research in panels of colorectal tumors to study tumor-immunological interactions in this type of cancer. Tumor infiltration by relevant immune cells and tumor features that are prerequisites in immunological interaction, like HLA and NKG2D expression, were correlated to clinical follow-up data. Two vaccination studies, using p53 as a tumor target antigen, were performed. Of both types of research, data will be shown.
